Semi Overturns on Seward Highway, Junk Vehicles and Scrap Metal Closes Down Traffic

A roll-over on the Seward Highway near mile 108.5 between Indian and Beluga Point closed the highway for over four hours after a semi hauling metal scrap overturned between five and six pm on Monday evening.

Keith George Gaither was traveling the highway with his semi loaded with scrap vehicles and metal when it overturned on the highway strewing scrap and junk vehicles onto both lanes of the roadway.

Although Gaither reported to be wearing his seat belt and was uninjured, the semi was totaled.

After initial cleanup in the high winds plaguing the area, the highway was re-opened at 11pm to motorists. Motorists can expect delays for the new couple of days as the debris remaining from the crash is cleaned up.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
