The Alaska State Troopers say that they received a report of a death of a Pelican man in southeast after he was reported overdue in Pelican.
83-year-old Robert Lesher was traveling from his cabin three miles out from the community of Pelican to the community when he failed to show up at the prescribed time.
A Hasty team was organized and dispatched for the overdue Lesher. During their search they found Lesher’s skiff along the west shore of Lisianski Strait. When they found the skiff, the motor was still running. Lesher was also in the skiff, he was unresponsive when discovered.
Lesher was transported to the clinic in Pelican where he was pronounced deceased by staff there.
Troopers say the the death has not been deemed suspicious and next of kin has been notified.
