Although the cause of death is unknown at this time, Alaska State Troopers report that they were notified, and responded, to a call reporting a man dead on the beach at the southern end of Kupreanoff Island at approximately 12:08 pm on Tuesday.

59-year-old Michael Carpenter was found dead on the beach in front of his cabin in Wrangell Narrows on August 19th.

Troopers state that the  cause of death is unknown at this time, but the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage has requested his remains for autopsy.

AST does not believe that any foul play lend a hand in the man’s death.

Next of kin was notified.
