Sterling Man Arrested on Warrant, Charges, after Fleeing Troopers

trooperarrestA 50-year-old Sterling man was arrested after a fumbled attempted getaway on Friday troopers say.

Troopers had responded to 50-year-old Matt Lauchart’s residence on Friday shortly after noon to serve an outstanding arrest warrant on him, troopers reported. But, when Lauchart saw the troopers approaching his location on Bear Drive, Lauchart sped away from the area recklessly at a “high rate of speed.”

But, Lauchart’s flight was short-lived, and he soon drove into a ditch on Loomis Street. After crashing in the ditch, Lauchart fled on foot to a nearby residence. Troopers would eventually contact Lauchart at that residence that he fled to, and he was placed under arrest for his warrant, Petition to Revoke Probation and a new charge of Reckless Driving.

Lauchart was transported to Kenai and remanded to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility without bail.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
