Alaska State Troopers report that an investigation initiated in September in cooperation with ATF resulted in several sizable heroin busts in the last three months. The investigation also culminated in two indictments for distribution and conspiracy.
Within a month of the onset of the investigation, troopers seized 48 grams of heroin it, as reported in the trooper dispatch. Further leads resulted in an additional 266 grams being seized after a search warrant was served on a Wasilla residence.
As the case matured, the trooper investigation would identify a source in Anchorage that was supplying suspects in Wasilla and Fairbanks. On November 19th, troopers and DEA agents seized an additional 141 grams and over $17.000 in drug proceeds.
Then after a search warrant for an address on Arctic Boulevard was issued and served, the Mat-Su Drug Unit would seize an additional 445 grams of Heroin and $980 in cash as well as a custom truck.
Two indictments against 37-year-old Seneca Neal of Anchorage and 40-year-old Lamon Washington of Fairbanks were handed down by the Grand Jury on December 16th. Both were arrested for Distribution of heroin and conspiracy to distribute over one kilogram of heroin.
Troopers say that additional suspects have been identified, and additional charges have been forwarded for prosecution.
They estimate the street value of the seized heroin at approximately $400,000.
