Anchorage woman, 26-year-old Mary Elizabeth Transki, was sentenced on Monday to 21 months in prison following her conviction of Securities Fraud according to U.S. Attorney Karen Loeffler.
It was in October, 2010 that Floyd Leroy Lee Jr set up an investment company named Platinum Investments, Inc. (Although it is reported that the company went out of business in May of 2012, the website is still up) Then, both Lee and Transki, in her role as Executive Secretary and Treasurer, began soliciting investors to invest with them offering high yield returns in a short period of time. Between September 2011 and March of 2012, Transki and Lee managed to take in $62,000 from investors. Lee misled investors, claiming to have offices in Dubai, Manila, Manhattan and Moscow.

Platinum Investments also claimed to assist individuals with credit remediation, sold Corporate Identity Packages, and local and long-distance phone plans, according to the site.
But, they did not invest those funds as they promised their investors, instead, they spent the funds for their own personal use and benefit according to U.S. Attorney Joseph Bottini who prosecuted the case against Transki and Lee.
Transki and Lee were indicted on charges Securities Fraud by a Grand Jury In April of 2013. Additionally, Lee was charged with Mail Fraud. Both pled guilty in June.
Transki’s co-conspirator, Lee is scheduled to be sentenced on August 30th of this year in Anchorage.
