Alaska State troopers in Fairbanks have suspended their search for the man who was reported after entering a home on Spudwood Road on Monday morning.
A call went into the Alaska state troopers at 8:45 AM this morning reporting that an intoxicated man had walked into a Spudwood Road residence looking for a friend he believed was living there. According to the report, when the man contacted the woman living there, he had a handgun in his possession.
Although the man did not threaten the woman, the woman was scared enough over the incident to call her husband to report the encounter. Her husband, in turn, called his father, who then reported the incident to authorities.
The unidentified man left the residence after the brief encounter and walked down Spudwood Road toward Chena Hot Springs Rd.
Several troopers responded to the area in an attempt to locate the man. Helo-2 was also launched to search the area. After extensively searching the area, both the helicopter and the troopers on the ground were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
Troopers did locate a 1979 ford PK in the ditch on Spudwood Road near the residence. They believe that the vehicle belongs to the person they are looking for, and so are confident that they know the identity of the man. The vehicle was impounded by the Alaska State troopers.
Troopers released a description, and say the man is a white male approximately 30 to 35 years old. He had short blond hair, and was last seen wearing dark Carhart winter gear.
Troopers checked with other homeowners in the area to notify them of the situation and to find out if they had seen that individual as well as to make sure that everyone was okay.
Troopers also say that they do not believe that the public is at risk, but are asking for information about the incident and requesting anyone with information to please call them at 451–5100.
