Troopers Catch Peninsula Shoplifter on Second Try

trooperarrestTroopers were notified of a shoplifting incident at a store on K-Beach Drive in Soldotna at 12:43 pm on Friday, but by the time they arrived at the scene, the suspect had already left the scene on foot. Troopers interviewed the complainant and witnesses at the location and identified the suspect as 31-year-old Warren Belford of Kenai.

Troopers report that they were unable to initially locate Belford.

Then, less than two hours later, at 2:41 pm, troopers received another call reporting a disturbance at another business, this one in Soldotna.

When troopers responded to the scene, they contacted the person causing the disturbance, and found that it was the man that they had been seeking from the earlier shoplifting complaint.

Belford was arrested and transported to Kenai, where he was remanded to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility on two counts of Concealment of Merchandise, Criminal Trespass I, Theft IV, and Resisting Arrest.
