Alaska State Troopers and Fairbanks Police continue to seek 31-year-old Michael Lorenz, and 35-year-old Cody Ladig, two escapees from the North Star Center, a halfway house in the Fairbanks Correctional system.
35-year-old Ladig walked away from the minimum security facility on Thursday of last week. Lorenz left the facility on Saturday night.
Ladig was to remain at the North Star Center until June 28th, 2015. He pled guilty to Burglary in a Dwelling in a plea deal earlier this month.
Lorenz, who was do in court on recent charges of false information and violating his conditions of release was due in court on Wednesday on those charges. Lorenz was also charged with two counts of vehicle theft and one count of forgery on October 9th. He was arraigned on the 14th of this month with his next court date scheduled for December 18th.
The North Star Center is a minimum security facility and the employees of the facility do not restraint or contain the inmates housed there. Inmates in halfway houses are supervised in a work/education or pre-release setting and are used for sentenced or unsentenced detainees.
There are eight facilities state-wide. Four of those facilities are in the Anchorage area, and one each in Bethel, Juneau, Barrow, and Fairbanks.
