Troopers Investigate Burglary, Vandalism in Rural Community of Aniak

Alaska State Troopers were informed of a case of Burglary in the community of Aniak on Friday.

Troopers investigated a reported Burglary at the Aniak Library on Friday. It was revealed that a person or persons gained access to the library by breaking a window at the scene. Investigators would find several laptops outside of the building on the ground. The value of the stolen property is unknown at this time.

Troopers are asking the public for any information connected with this incident.

Troopers would also receive a report of a broken window at an Aniak residence on Saturday. In that incident, a person or persons broke a window at that residence causing an estimated $500 worth of damage.

It is unknown at this time if the two incidences are related.

Aniak, with its estimated population of almost 600 residents, is located on the south bank of the Kuskokwim River about 59 miles  to the southwest of Russian Mission and 92 miles northeast of Bethel.
