Three Kodiak individuals have been arrested and are in custody at the Kodiak Jail following a search warrant issued in connection with a Kidnapping/Robbery case that took place on Monday  morning in the woods outside the town of Kodiak.

Arrested in the case were Jami Gibson, age 39, Philip Gibson, age 38, and Julian Valdez, age 27, all of Kodiak.

It was reported to the Alaska State Troopers on Monday morning at 8:19 am by the Kodiak Police Department that the department had received a call from the Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center hospital regarding a patient with injuries.

When troopers and Kodiak police responded to the hospital, they were informed that the patient and two others had been camping in the woods outside of town when they awoke to someone cutting into their tent. The three men, ages 17, 21, and 23, were then bound up with telephone cord. The 21-year-old was beaten repeatedly wit a wooden dowel.

The three men eventually made good their escape and went to the hospital.

Using information from the three victims, warrants were requested and granted and troopers, wildlife troopers,  and the Kodiak Police Department, conducting a joint operation, went to the Gibson residence where they served multiple search warrants.

All three individuals were located at the residence. The investigation there found that J. Gibson and P. Gibson had gone to the tent in the woods to seek retribution from the 21-year-old victim for stealing a large amount of money from the Gibson residence.

The search warrants were carried out at the residence and the officers would discover the weapon used in the assault in the woods as well as the stolen property. Investigators would also find 15 grams of black and brown heroin, a gram of methamphetamine, prescription narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Enforcement valued the drugs at approximately $14,000.

All three suspects were arrested and transported to the Kodiak Jail where they were remanded on charges with no bail set.

Philip Gibson was charged with Kidnapping, Robbery I, Assault III x2, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV x2, Theft II and IV, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance VI, and Violating Conditions of Release.

Jami Gibson was charged with Kidnapping, Robbery I, Assault III x3, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance VI, and Theft II and IV.

Julian Valdez was charged with Kidnapping, Robbery I, Assault III x2, Theft II and IV, and Violating Conditions of Release.

All three were arraigned on charges on Tuesday.
