The Alaska State Troopers are urging people to use caution when in the area of West Rezanof Drive in Kodiak because of a bear that was possibly injured in a truck/bear impact on Wednesday.
It was late in the evening at 11:12 pm on Wednesday that the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a collision with a Kodiak Bear by a Peterbilt truck and trailer near mile 2,75 of West Rezanof Drive.
Troopers responded to the scene to investigate the collision and it was revealed that 43-year-old Michael Believeau was traveling east bound when he hit the bear. Beleiveau was not injured in the collision, but his vehicle sustained approximately $1,000 worth of damage.
Troopers report that the bear was injured, but they were unable to locate the bruin.
Troopers are advising persons transiting the area to be on the lookout for the bear. They also ask anyone seeing the bear to please contact them at 907-486-4121.
