Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1990 Ford Sedan on Friday evening at 9:55 pm.
The trooper investigation at the scene would find that the driver of the vehicle, 38-year-old Kodiak resident David Taylor ha an outstanding warrant for his arrest on the original charge of No Motor Vehicle Insurance. At the time of the stop, Taylor still did not have insurance.

The vehicle was impounded.
A search revealed that Taylor was in possession of a gravity knife and marijuana.
Further investigation found that the passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old David Shoup Jr of Kodiak was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a concealable firearm. Shoup was previously convicted of a felony and is restricted from possessing a firearm. He did not notify the trooper as required about the weapon.
As the investigation continued, Shoup would be found to be in possession of Heroin and Methamphetamine as well. He was further charged with possessing a firearm during the commission of a drug crime.
Taylor was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant as well as no vehicle insurance and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance VI and Misconduct Involving a Weapon V. Taylor was remanded to the Kodiak Jail and bail set at $1,050.
Shoup was arrested and charged with Misconduct Involving a Weapon II, III, IV, and V and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II and IV x2.
Shoup was remanded with no bail pending arraignment.
