Two Wisconsin Men Injured, Fairbanks Man Dies in Chena Hot Spring Road Collision

trooper road accidentAlaska State Troopers responded to Chena Hot Springs Road on Saturday afternoon after receiving a report of a two-vehicle collision near Rifle Road.

The investigation opened at the scene would determine that one of the vehicles involved, a 2005 Ford F-150, driven by 22-year-old Luke LaCross of Wisconsin, while driving eastbound on Chena Hot Springs Road, crossed over the centerline. 

As he crossed over the line, LaCross collided head-on into a 2014 Rav4 that was driven by 33-year-old Michael Dick of Fairbanks. Subsequent to the collision, Michael Dick was transported to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries, while LaCross and a passenger in his vehicle were treated for minor injuries.

A short time later, at 1:49 pm, Dick succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Troopers report that road conditions at the crash site included ice and freezing rain.

Troopers say that they are continuing their investigation into the incident.
