Washington Logger Dies in Ketchikan Logging Accident

On Tuesday afternoon, at 1:30 pm, according to the trooper dispatch, the troopers in Ketchikan received a report of a fatal accident at a logging company on the Cleveland Peninsula near the town.

Troopers flew to the scene with the assistance of a Temsco Helicopter chopper and conducted an investigation at the area where the incident occurred.

Their investigation found that 51-year-old logger, Kenneth Butkovich of Castle Rock, Washington had gotten hit and pinned under an uprooted tree while working in the area. Their investigation uncovered no foul play in the incident.

Butkovich’s remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage and his next of kin was notified of his death.
