During a patrol of the area, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1984 Mercedes-Benz in the parking lot of an apartment building in Wasilla.
After stopping the vehicle in a parking lot on East Beaver Street near North Moose Street in Wasilla, troopers contacted the driver of the vehicle, 42-year-old Wasilla resident Patrick Gonzalez.
Gonzalez would disregard several verbal instructions during the initial contact, and would soon engage in a fight, assaulting the trooper. A lengthy struggle would ensue that resulted in injuries as well as property damage. Gonzalez was eventually taken into custody.
An investigation into the incident would find that Gonzalez was driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a revoked license. He was arrested on those charges. Gonzalez would also refuse to submit to a chemical test and charged with that offense as well.
Gonzalez would also have charges of Assault IV, Criminal Mischief V, and Resisting Arrest leveled at him for his actions that occurred at the time of his contact with troopers.
Gonzalez was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remande with his bail set at $3,000 and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
