A Wasilla man has been sentenced to four years in prison for an elaborate phone scam that began in August of 2014, after a joint investigation by Mat-Su Valley State Troopers, Anchorage Police, Kenai Peninsula-based Troopers and the Office of Special Prosecutions in Anchorage, it was reported on Wednesday.
On April 28th, 2015, troopers became aware of the scam perpetrated by 48-year-old Kenneth Wayne Jenks of Wasilla. it was found that Jenks “had been contacting local businesses and small business owners, pretending to be associated with a fictitious flight service,” trooper dispatch wrote on Wednesday morning.
While saying he was associated with the non-existent “Alaska Adventures Air Service,” Jenks swindled at least 38 victims out of approximately $8,000 while using different aliases. During the scam, Jenks gave various reasons for needing to borrow money from the businesses.
Following the investigation into the scam, warrants were requested and issued, and Jenks was arrested in August of 2015.
Online court records show multiple cases of Forgery and Theft. Jenks pleaded “guilty” in a plea deal on January 8th. After which, he was sentenced to four years for Theft II. He was also ordered to pay restitution to all victims.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
