A 1997 Saturn Sedan traveling west on the Glenn Highway near mile 138 was seen going off the road and rolling several times just before midnight on Friday.
The driver of the vehicle, 51-year-old Wasilla resident Russell A Richmond, was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled.

According to the trooper dispatch, medical personnel who had been following the vehicle responded to the accident scene and began giving Richmond medical assistance immediately. Their efforts were unsuccessful however, and Richmond succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Troopers from the Glennallen Post and the SouthCentral Bureau of Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Their investigation found Richmond was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and they believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident.
Next of kin was notified of Richmond’s death.
The trooper investigation into the accident is continueing.
