After being missing for 36 hours, the woman that was reported missing at 3:30 pm on Friday, was located in a gravel pit located south of her residence at approximately 10 pm on Saturday.
Theresa Mayo was reported missing to the Palmer Police Department by a family member at 3:30 pm on Friday. They described the missing woman as 59 years old and approximately 90 pounds. According to her family, she was last seen at 11:45 pm the night before.
They had reported her wearing a black down coat and a black knit cap. A search of the immediate area around her residence proved fruitless. MAT SAR was called in to assist in the search and K-9 teams were utilized. Ten ground searchers looked for the missing woman with no immediate results.
It wasn’t uintil Saturday night that Alaska State Troopers and SAR volunteers located the missing woman in the gravel pit. When found, Mayo was very dehydrated and cold. She was transported by EMS to the Mat-Su Regional Hospital for treatment of her condition.
