Baltimore man, Donte Frye was sentenced by a Baltimore judge on Monday to 25 years in prison after he threw boiling water into a roommate’s face after an argument over breakfast sausages in April of last year.
39-year-old Frye was convicted in June of this year on the assault charge. Prosecutors stated in court that Frye lured his roommate to the top of the residence’s basement stairs where he threw the boiling salt water into the roommate’s face because he thought the roommate ate his breakfast sausages. After being hit in the face with the boiling water, the roommate tumbled down the stairs hitting his head on the basement floor.
The man had to undergo months of treatment for severe burns and was left disfigured and scarred.
Frye mocked his victim in calls made from the jail, and also told fellow inmates that boiling water isn’t a weapon and that his victim wasn’t even bleeding. It was because of this and two previous attempted murder convictions in 1993 and 2004, where he stabbed two other roommates on separate occasions that led the judge to impose the long sentence.
Prosecutors called Frye a “violent repeat offender.
