Three people suffered minor injuries in a head-on collision between a semi-and a pickup truck on the Glenn Highway on Sunday afternoon.
Alaska State troopers responded to a report of a head-on collision at mile 33 of the Glenn Highway at approximately 3:23 PM on Sunday afternoon and conducted an investigation there.
Their investigation revealed that 43-year-old Wasilla resident Patrick Crandall was driving a blue 2014 Peterbilt tractor-trailer combo, “when he drifted across both southbound lanes of travel, careened through the median and continued across the northbound lanes.” Trooper’s report that multiple vehicles managed to evade the out of control semi, but one vehicle, a silver 1999 Dodge Ram truck, driven by 43-year-old Holly Slinkard of Anchorage, was unable to do.
The tractor-trailer impacted the Ram truck just behind the driver’s door, and sheered off the rear end of the pickup. The pickup rolled multiple times, coming to rest upside down on its cab in a swamp. The semi, suffering severe front-end damage, also crashed into the swamp.
Slinkard, as well as Crandall and his passenger, were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. No citations have yet been issued in the continuing investigation.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
