On July 3rd of this year, Alaska State Troopers were notified of an assault that took place between two inmates at the Spring Creek Correctional facility at Seward, Alaska. The subsequent investigation showed that Mark Spencer, 43, who is incarcerated with a prison sentence of ten years for manufacturing and distributing controlled substances, assaulted Floyd Boshears III, age 32, who is imprisoned on a myriad of weapons, theft, robbery, and assault charges.
Boshears sustained serious injuries in the assault and was transported to Anchorage for treatment. In the months since the assault, Boshear has made improvement as a result of hospital treatment.
The Alaska Bureau of Investigation has completed the investigation into the incident. The case was forwarded to the Kenai District Attorney’s office for review. Last week, a Kenai Grand jury indicted Spencer on a count of Attempted Murder and a count of Assault in the First Degree. Spencer is scheduled to be arraigned on those charges on December 27th before Judge Anna Moran in the Kenai Courthouse.
