Anchorage police report that the man stabbed last night in a downtown hotel died of his wounds this morning at a local Anchorage hospital.

Police did not say how many times that Andrew Wilson, age 50, was stabbed, or with what type of knife, but only that after surgery to address his wounds, he succumbed to injuries.

The incident occurred at the Inlet Inn during a drinking party taking place in one of the hotel’s rooms. According to witnesses interviewed by the police, an argument broke out between Andrew Wilson and his assailant Jackie Adams, age 50, over the additional $11.50 charge that Adams would incur if Wilson stayed at the room. The hotel charges that fee for extra people in the hotel’s room staying over.

The witnesses also said that because Adams did not want to pay the additional fee, he forced the victim, Wilson from the room. A short time later, Wilson returned and began banging on the door. That is when the stabbing occurred.

Adams was arrested and held on a $25,000 bail for the stabbing and was initially charged with assault. Police Spokesman Lt Dave Parker said additional charges may still be leveled at Adams since Wilson has now died. Adams also needs a third party court approved custodian in addition to posting his bail.
