Alaska State Troopers reveal that on Thursday, burglary suspect, 35-year-old Willow resident Ian McCleod Lleshi was slapped with 21 additional charges on top of his present five counts filed in court in late October and early November.
The Grand Jury returned indictments on the charges of Felony Eluding, Assault III on a Peace Officer, Assault III, Criminal Mischief III, Burglary I x5, Burglary II in the Willow/Trapper Creek burglary investigations conducted by a Mat-Su West Patrol Trooper. A half-dozen additional counts of Criminal Mischief and Criminal Trespass were filed, AST said.
On October 9th, 2018 leads in the investigations into Valley burglary/thefts began opening up when a trooper attempted to pull a gray 1999 Dodge 1500 pickup over for speeding and reckless driving. Instead of stopping, the vehicle sped away with troopers giving chase on the Parks Highway.
After the suspect vehicle, at high speeds, nearly collided with another vehicle, the pursuing officer elected to conduct a pursuit intervention maneuver (PIT)which the truck evaded. But, in doing so the Dodge struck the patrol vehicle. The Dodge was still in motion when the driver bailed from the truck and fled on foot in the Nancy Way Parkway area.
Despite the assistance of State Park Rangers, HELO 3 and a K9 unit, the driver escaped capture.
The Dodge would be found to have been stolen from a residence on Dolly Varden Drive in Willow.
The investigation into the incidences continued and on October 22nd of 2018, troopers contacted Lleshi on East Good Fishin Avenue in Willow. When contacted, it would be found that Llishi had in his possession numerous items known to have been stolen in three separate September burglaries in the Willow area the month before.
Lleshi was charged with numerous counts that included burglary and theft. He was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility without bail.
Vinelink shows Lleshi is currently in supervised custody with the probations office.
