Once again, Kodiak will attempt a restriction on smoking, this time the Kodiak Island Borough will attempt to ban smoking in business spaces. The measure will be considered on Tuesday night by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly.

The ban would eliminate smoking from bars, restaurants, cabs, stores, bed and breakfasts, motels and hotels, and even private homes if that home is used to conduct business.
The measure would also prohibit smoking in outside areas such as parks, stadiums and playgrounds.
The ban vote would go on the October ballot if the measure is approved by the Borough Assembly by August 9th.
Other attempts to place restrictions on smoking have failed in Kodiak.
