JUNEAU – The State of Alaska Division of Elections (DOE) reminds eligible Alaska voters to make sure they are registered to vote and their information is up to date in time for the upcoming August 21 Primary Election.
The deadline to register to vote or update registration is 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 22. DOE regional offices will be open for voter registration Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., as well as, Saturday July 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, July 22 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Voters may register or update their registration using the online registration system at any time before the registration deadline by visiting the DOE website and completing this option. Those planning to mail in their applications must have it postmarked by July 22 and the division must receive it within 5 days after the deadline for your name to appear on the precinct register.
DOE encourages Alaska voters to register or update their information ahead of time and not to wait until the last day.
While state elections will be conducted under a precinct-based system, DOE reminds voters that anyone interested in receiving a ballot in the mail need to apply by August 11 for the August 21 Primary Election.
“Our team is committed to assisting Alaskans as they prepare to make their voices count in this year’s elections,” said State Elections Director Josie Bahnke. “We want to make sure anyone who is eligible to vote has a meaningful opportunity to cast their ballot.”
Regional offices open on the final weekend include: Region I (Juneau), Region II (Anchorage) (Mat-Su), Region III (Fairbanks), Region IV (Nome), and the Director’s Office (Juneau).
