Late onFriday night at 11:22 pm, Alaska State Troopers attempted to stop a white Chevy pickup at mile 1.5 of Kalifornsky Beach Road. During the attempt, the vehicle sped away and later, the driver fled the scene on foot.
The trooper investigation would identify the driver as 30-year-old Robert A. Jackson of Anchorage. Further investigation would reveal that Jackson had fled the scene of a motor vehicle collision before fleeing from the trooper traffic stop.
Jackson would later contact the troopers and report that his vehicle had been stolen. When contacting Jackson as a result of his report, Jackson was arrested on charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Failing to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer II, and Providing a False Report.
Jackson was transported to Kenai where he was remanded to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility and held on $1,250 bail.
