It was revealed yesterday in a press release by Acting U.S. Attorney Kevin Feldis that 31-year-old Anchorage resident Michael Dean Miller was named in a one-count indictment for possession of a mixture containing a detectable amount of heroin while in custody on April 14th. Miller was in custody after being indicted in February for conspiracy to distribute and distributing methamphetamine.
Mr Feldis said in the press release, “Our community cannot tolerate the smuggling of drugs and illegal contraband into our jails. Heroin has no legitimate place on our streets or in our correctional facilities.”
The law provides for a sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for the conviction of possession while in federal custody.
