A Wasilla man, 46-year-old Carl Bond suffered serious injuries after an ATV accident that occurred just before 3 pm on Wednesday near Wasilla Fishhook Road and Bridal Path Street.
Alaska State Troopers and the Bureau of Highway Patrol responded to the scene, and according to trooper dispatch, their investigation at the site found that while Bond was operating a Honda 200E Big Red three-wheeler at high speed on the pedestrian path on Fishhok Road traveling north, he lost control, and veered off the path. After leaving the path Bond struck a church sign.
Although Bond was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the helmet strap was unsecured.
Bond suffered life-threatening injuries and was medevaced from the scene to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. He was later transferred further to the Providence Hospital in Anchorage by ambulance.
The investigation into the accident is continueing, troopers suspect alcohol was a factor in the accident.
