KODIAK, Alaska — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter SPAR invites the Nome community to tour the ship during their open house on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Nome pier.

The tour is free to the public. An adult must accompany all children. No pets are allowed aboard the cutter.
Coast Guard crewmembers will be available to answer questions about the cutter and the unique Coast Guard mission in Alaska.
The SPAR, nicknamed “The Aleutian Keeper,” is a 225-foot seagoing buoy tender homeported in Kodiak and is responsible for maintaining more than 150 aids to navigation throughout the Gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea.
