On Tuesday, the Alaska State Trooper's Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Alaska State Trooper's K-9 "Duncan," while working with the Drug Enforcement Agency, intercepted a package sent from Las Vegas to Anchorage.
Upon intercepting the package, it was opened and 39 grams of heroin were found hidden inside. The package was resealed and the investigators allowed the package to continue on to be delivered to the addressee’s residence located just off of Cascade Drive in Anchorage.
A search warrant was executed at the residence when the package was delivered. While serving the search warrant, several items of evidence was seized from the home, including a loaded handgun.
The investigators immediately arrested the occupant of the home, 28-year-old Anchorage resident, Shaun A. Murphy.
Murphy was transported to the Anchorage Jail, where he was remanded on charges of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV, Misconduct Involving a Weapon II, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Murphy’s bail was set at $15,000 and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
