Alaska State Troopers reported in the trooper dispatch on Sunday that the Ekwok man that they had been searching for for three days after his escape from custody had been re-arrested and is now in custody.
According to troopers, 30-year-old Constantine Akelkok was arrested on January 13th for DUI, but after being remanded to the New Stuyahok Jail, he escaped custody.
After his escape, warrants were issued for Akelkok’s arrest and troopers began an active search for the escapee.
The trooper searcch included the Akwok home that Akelkok had listed as his home for the Sex Offender Registry. It was found that Akelkok had moved from that residence and had failed to re-register his new residence with the registry.
Akelkok was arrested without incident on Friday evening and additional charges of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, Felony Probation Violation. DWLR, and Escape III were leveled against him.
Akelkok was on probation after a six-count conviction that consisted of several counts of Assault III.
