62-year-old Danny High “was walking in the woods when he was attacked by a brown bear,” troopers reported. Alaska Wildlife troopers and Alaska State Troopers responded to the scene of the attack at mile 11 of Funny River Road at 4:36 pm Sunday.
Troopers reported that High suffered major injuries in the attack and as a result had to be medevaced out from the scene by Life Med.
It was reported that High was not armed with a gun or was not carrying bear spray when attacked.
The responding troopers were unable to locate the bear.
