A Helicopter pilot out of Haines discovered the remains of a local prospector when flying out to the prospectors mine to pick him up troopers say.
A helicopter pilot who was doing a pickup at Jerry Fabrizio’s mine site at Cahoon Creek near Haines instead found the 72-year-old man at his cabin deceased.
Troopers were informed of the discovery on Monday morning at approximately 9:15 am. They traveled to the location shortly thereafter.
Troopers say that the mine site was in good order and there were no signs of fou; play at the scene. Fabrizio was found in his shelter at the camp.
Fabrizio was last seen on July 24th when he was dropped off by helicopter at his Cahoon Creek Mine.
After recovering Fabrizio’s remains, they were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.
Next of kin was notified.
