47-year-old John Marvin, the man convicted of killing two Hoonah police officers in August of 2010 is due to be sentenced Friday in Juneau.
Marvin was convicted of killing Police Officer Matthew Tokuoka and Sgt Anthony Wallace at the conclusion of his trial in November. During that trial, the defense attempted to introduce an alternate suspect in the shootings, but that person was vindicated by pay stubs that showed he was not in the area during the time of the incident.

Marvin also unsuccessfully requested a new trial in February arguing that Sgt Wallace was not performing his duties as an officer of the law when he stopped and talked with Tokuoka and so shouldn’t be sentenced as severly for the charge of First Degree Murder of the officer.
The jury determined that Marvin shot and killed the two officers from his second-story window.
Marvin faces a maximum sentence of 99 years for the shooting of Wallace and a further 20-99 years for the killing of Tokuoka.
