On November 15, 2012 at approximately 8:32 AM officers of the Ketchikan Police Department were dispatched to the 2900 block of Baranof on a report of a child being
struck by a car.

Upon investigation officers learned the child had just exited a school bus which was stopped on Baranof to unload students. The bus had its red lights flashing and stop sign extended. A vehicle being driven by Doris Loeser, 68 years of age of Ketchikan AK, drove up from behind the bus passing the red lights and stop sign and struck the child. The child was taken to the Ketchikan General Hospital and received medical attention.
Ms. Loeser was charged with Assault in the Third Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Stop for School Bus with Flashing Red Lights.
