25-year-old Vincent R. Morin was contacted by the Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers while aboard his family’s fishing boat at Refuge Cove in Southeast Alaska on Wednesday. Instead of going quietly, Morin jumped into the water in an effort to get away from the officers.
A short time later, Morin changed his mind and took a life ring offered to him and was pulled from the chilly bay. A cold and wet but otherwise uninjured Morin was placed under arrest without further incident.
Morin was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center where he was remanded on charges of Domestic Violence IV, Theft III, and Reckless Endangerment. When he was remanded, Morin was also served with a Domestic Violence Protective Order.
