Kodiak Motorcyclist Injured in Spruce Cape Road Collision

kodiak troopersA Kodiak motorcyclist was injured with multiple trauma injuries after a crash involving himself and a truck on Spruce Cape in Kodiak last Friday the trooper dispatch reported on Monday.

A call went in to the Kodiak Police Department at 8:43 in the morning on Friday reporting a collision with injuries, and Alaska State Troopers and Wildlife Troopers responded to the scene.When they arrived on scene, they found that a motorcyclist, identified as 31-year-old Craig White had slid, with his bike, under a 2001 GMC Sierra.

According to the investigation, White had been traveling on his 2016 KTM cycle northbound on Spruce Cape Road at between 40 and 60 miles per hour when the truck driven by 44-year-old Jacob Hanohano pulled out of Jackson Lane, turning left to head south-bound. It was then, that the report said, that White lost control and slid under the turning truck.

White was transported to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. But, because of multiple areas of trauma, he was later medevaced to an Anchorage Hospital.

White was reported to be wearing his helmet at the time of the incident.
