Alaska State Troopers, as well as EMS responded to provide medical assistance to a 56-year-old male who had struck his head falling from the bed of his pickup on Friday afternoon. He had been parked at the gas pump at the Meier’s Lake Lodge at mile 170 of the Parks Highway at the time of the incident.
It was mid-afternoon when the call went in about the unconscious male at the lodge. EMS arrived and proceeded with transport needs. EMS asked troopers to assist in securing a medevac landing zone at mile 149 for the LifeMed helicopter as they continued with CPR efforts.
Life-saving efforts continued until 6:23 pm. It was at that time that LifeMed arrived at the landing zone and declared the man deceased.
The man’s remains were transported to the Crossroad Medical Center to await transport the the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage although no foul play is suspected.
