In a one count indictment, an Anchorage man was charged with being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm on Thursday according to acting U.S. Attorney Kevin Feldis of the Justice Department.
36-year-old Wasilla resident James Laneal Lee III was the sole defendant named in the one-count indictment stemming from August of 2011. It was then that it was revealed that Lee possessed two handguns, a .44 caliber revolver and a .45 caliber pistol. As a convicted felon, Lee is prohibited from possessing firearms.

According to assistant U.S. Attorney Stephie Courter, who presented the case to the Grand Jury, the law provides for a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine or both.
Lee has several cases open in Alaskan Courts. A review of cases open for Lee resulted in at least 40 counts open before the court. Lee was also implicated in the burglary of the Department of Forestry building last summer. That burglary of firefighting equipment caused the Gannet Glacier Firefighting crew to be pulled from the National Ready List because of the loss of their equipment.
