Napakiak Boater Charged with DUI, Importation, and Reckless Endangerment

rural trooperOn Wednesday, while carrying out alcohol interdictions along the Kuskokwim River, the Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team contacted 43-year-old Napakiak resident, Paul Dennis operating a boat headed to that dry village with two minors on board.

The Bethel-based team conducted an investigation at the scene and found that Dennis was operating the boat while under the influence of alcohol. Dennis was arrested for DUI, and a search of his boat found that he had 2 bottles of R&R whiskey in the boat.

Dennis was charged with DUI, Alcohol Importation, and Reckless Endangerment x2, he was transported to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center where  he refused to submit to a chemical test, and as a result was charged with that offense as well.
