The search and rescue for a missing snowmachiner traveling between Atmautluak and Bethel that began on Tuesday has ended with the snowmachiner's body being discovered by searchers.
Nunapitchuk resident, Wassillie Berlin, went missing on Saturday and was later reported missing by his brother. But, according to troopers, the incident was not reported to them until Tuesday.
Prior to the discovery of the remains, Berlin’s snowmachine was found along the trail near Atmautluak by searchers.
Although their investigation is continuing, troopers say that they do not suspect foul play in the man’s death.
