At 5pm on Sunday Alaska State Troopers responded to a multiple vehicle accident in the construction zone at mile 257 of the Parks Highway.

The trooper investigation at the scene found that while traveling northbound on the highway, 58-year-old Buddy Garrett came up on a pavement break in the highway and aplied his brakes. Traveling behind Garret in a maroon 2009 Ford F-150, 27-year-old Ashley Wensel saw Garrett apply his brakes and she did so to in order to avoid colliding with the back end of Garrett’s vehicle.
Also traveling northbound were six motorcycles traveling as a group. When Wensel slowed her vehicle, four of the six motorcycles crashed in the rear of Wensel.
Involved in the motorcyles accidents were 51-year-old Dale Leedom, traveling on a 2010 Harley, 66-year-old Charlie Pottter driving a 2001 black Harley, 47-year-old Mark Elliot operating a black 2007 Harley, and 60-year-old Randy Rocheleau driving a silver AHarley.
Leedom reported no injuries to himself at the scene. Rocheleau suffered minort injuries and was treated at the scene.
Elliot reported minor injuries. Charlie Potter was seriously injured in the crash, and along with Elliot, Potter was transported by EMS to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
The drivers of the two vehicles in front of the motorcycles reported no injuries.
None of the cycle drivers were wearing helmets at the time of the incident.
