Palmer Man Pronounced Deceased During Transport

No foul play is suspected in the death of a Palmer man on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm.

Alaska State Troopers and Mat-Su EMS responded to an unconscious man at a residence on Amanita Street. The callers reported that CPR was in progress on 53-year-old Richard Shields. After administering CPR, the family of the man attempted to transport Shields to the hospital according to the report.

EMS arrived at the scene and took over transport of Shields. But, as they were further preparing to get Shields to the hospital, it was discontinued and Shields was pronounced deceased.

The State Medical Examiner’s office responded to the scene and released Shield’s remains to the Valley Funeral Home.
