On Saturday evening in Palmer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver Saturn Sedan for speeding and turn signal violations on the Glenn Highway and Palmer Fishhook Road.
But, the driver of the vehicle failed to yeild to the officers and accelerated away on Fishhook Road at approximately 90 MPH. He continued on the road until he approached the vicinity of Ryder Road. It was at that time that the driver, later identified as 63-year-old Palmer resident Joseph Martin, lost control of the vehicle and went off the road and collided with an earth embankment.
Martin attempted to flee fromn the troopers on foot, but was immediately caught and subdued.
An investigation at the scene found that Martin was operating the vehicle while his license was revoked and was also out on bail in connection with multiple felony charges.
Martin was arrested for Felony Eluding, DWLR, and Violating Conditions of Release.
Martin was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded and his bail set at $5,000 and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
