Pilot Dies, Mother and Two-Year-Old Survive Fiery Willow Plane Crash

A Wednesday evening plane crash in the area of Long Lake Road and Barrington Loop along the Parks Highway took the life of one and injured two others, it was reported by Alaska State Troopers.

The crash that took place at 7 pm on Wednesday evening also sparked a wildfire at the scene. State troopers as well as wildlife troopers, forestry medics and fire responded to the crash site near Willow.

The crash of a commercial de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver took the life of the pilot but spared the life of a 30-year-old mother and her 2-year-old child, who suffered what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

A resident in the area, as well as a passing motorist, were able to assist the mother and child escape the burning crash.

The plane completely burned after the crash and fire personnel worked to put out the resulting wildfire throughout the evening. That fire, as of Thursday morning is now out.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]

The National Transportation Safety Board responded to the crash location.
