Motorists along the Parks Highway experienced long delays between milepost 317 near Little Goldstream Creek and mile post 344 at the Parks Highway monument.
The delays beginning about 8 pm, were caused by increased activity at the Skinny’s Road fire, that fire had jumped the containment line and was approaching the highway. It was the rapid growth of the fire that prompted the delays on the highway.

By 10:15 pm, and after a long delay, Division of Forestry engines began guiding motorists through the section of the highway threatened by the blaze.
The Department of Forestry announced last night that motorists can expect long delays or escorts through the affected section of the highway if the current activity persists.
It was also stated by the service that smoke from at least four fires were visible from the highway. Motorists were cautioned to drive slowly with their headlights on if that smoke inhibited visibility along the highway.
