Speeding Mother Arrested on DUI Charges

Alaska State Troopers arrested a North Pole woman after she was stopped for doing 95 in a 65 mph zone on the Richardson Highway on Saturday.

Alaska State Troopers observed a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee speeding on the Richardson Highway near mile 271 at 8:52 pm on Saturday night. As a result, they pulled over the vehicle and identified the driver. The trooper investigation at the scene found that the driver, 34-year-old North Pole resident Melinda Mullet was under the influence of alcohol and had two children on board.

Further investigation found that Mullet could not provide proof of insurance and was driving a vehicle with an expired registration.

Mullet was arrested and charged with DUI, Reckless Endangerment x2, Speeding, Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance, and Operating a Vehicle with an Expired Registration. She was transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

The father of the children was contacted, and the two children, aged 1 and 3, were released into his care upon his arrival.
