Crews from the Division of Forestry’s Mat-Su and Kenai departments assisted crews removing trees and debris in Anchorage, where residents remained without power.
“With the large amount of storm debris remaining, the state will support local efforts where ever needed to help with the cleanup,” Governor Parnell said.
The Alaska Department of Homeland Security coordinated with the Municipality of Anchorage’s Office of Emergency Management from the beginning of the windstorm, and will continue to monitor the situation.
The governor also reminded Alaskans of the importance to proactively prepare for emergencies with an emergency family plan and a seven-day supply of food and water.
