Alaska Wildlife Troopers seized $88,622 worth of crab from Seward fisherman, Jay Thomassen.
Thomassen was cited by wildlife officers in Wrangell on Saturday. Their investigation found thatt he had committed multiple violations. The charges pertain to the Golden King Crab fishery in Registration Area A.
Thomassen was the permit holder on the F/V Angelette. He was charged with Commercial Fishing in Closed Waters, Retaining Undersized Crab, Possession of Illegal Crab, and Providing a False Statement in his Logbooks.
Thomassen is scheduled to be arraigned on April 18th in the Petersburg District Courthouse.
